Miriam Alves
Miriam Alves has wanted to be a journalist for as long as she can remember, a plan interrupted only one summer when she was certain she wanted to work with dolphins. She studied Communication Sciences. She is a journalist at SIC, where she is a member of, and currently coordinates, the Grande Reportagem team. She is also interested in the challenge of making knowledge generated across the sciences accessible to everyone. She created the segments Admirável Mundo Novo and Descobridores, through which she has introduced audiences to the work of dozens of Portuguese scientists. She works with people she likes, who are talented, creative and enthusiastic. A stroke of luck, because everything in television is a collective effort. Her reporting has received more than 30 national and international journalism awards. More recently, she discovered that she also loves writing true stories for children. In 2024, she published "As peças mais pequenas - Tudo o que vemos é feito do que não vemos" with Planeta Tangerina. With Diana Matias, she wrote "Tu bebes a água que um dinossauro bebeu" and "Quanto tempo o tempo tem?", both published by Penguin in 2026.
