José Eduardo Agualusa

José Eduardo Agualusa was born in Huambo, Angola, in 1960. He has lived in Luanda, Lisboa, Olinda, Rio de Janeiro and Berlim, and now spends most of his time on Ilha de Moçambique, where he writes and takes photographs. He has published 16 novels, as well as short stories, columns, children's books, poetry and reportage, translated into more than 30 languages and published in more than 40 countries. Teoria Geral do Esquecimento won the International Dublin Literary Award (2017) and was shortlisted for the Man Booker International Prize; O Vendedor de Passados won the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize (2007). He has also received the Prémio Nacional de Cultura de Angola.
