Tiago Bettencourt

Tiago Bettencourt is a leading figure in contemporary Portuguese music, always remaining faithful to the Portuguese language in his compositions. He began his career in 2003 with Toranja (Esquissos, Segundo). As a solo artist, he recorded O Jardim (2007) and Em Fuga (2010), produced by Howard Bilerman, followed by Tiago na Toca e os Poetas (2011), in which he set poems by Florbela Espanca, Ary dos Santos and David Mourão-Ferreira to music, Acústico (2012), Do Princípio (2014), A Procura (2017) and 2019 Rumo ao Eclipse (2020). In 2022, he celebrated 20 years of his career at Casa da Música and Coliseu dos Recreios. In 2024, he published a book containing all his lyrics. For more than 20 years, he has remained at the forefront of music sung in Portuguese.
