Mafalda Veiga

Mafalda Veiga is one of the most widely recognised Portuguese singer-songwriters, the author of some of the most emblematic songs in contemporary Portuguese music. She has released Silver, Gold and Platinum records such as «Pássaros do Sul» (Prémio Sete de Ouro Revelação), «Tatuagem» (which featured on the soundtracks of TV Globo soap operas), «Mafalda Veiga Ao Vivo», the DVD «5 de Outubro no Coliseu de Lisboa», «Chão» (Prémio Zeca Afonso), «Zoom», «Praia» and the EP «Geografia Particular», and has published books including «Songbook» (Quasi Edições) and «E arrumei as gavetas e cuidei do meu jardim», with original images by the painter Ana Vidigal (published by Blue-Book).

Over around 40 years in music, she has played with some of the most distinguished Portuguese musicians and collaborated on duets and songwriting with, among others, Luís Represas, Jorge Palma, João Pedro Pais, Miguel Araújo, Rui Reininho, Monica Giraldo (Colômbia), Ana Bacalhau and Fernando Daniel.

She celebrated 30 years in music with two concerts (Coliseu do Porto and Campo Pequeno, Lisboa), about which António Mega Ferreira wrote: «An emotional journey (though not a nostalgic one, except in the audience's hearts) through a 30-year career, led with disarming simplicity by an artist who refuses to rest on her achievements: some of her most recent compositions and explorations rank among the concert's finest moments».

She has taken part in numerous national and international literary festivals, notably FILBo Bogotá (Colômbia) and Festival LEA in Grécia (where she performed at the Auditório do Museu da Acrópole in Atenas). At the end of 2026, a book of her song lyrics will be published in the «Plural Letra e Poema» collection by Imprensa Nacional, and a new album of original songs entitled «Bagagem» is scheduled for release in early 2027.
